Since November of 2005 the Board of Directors has been holding work days to remove the existing wallpaper in the Sanctuary, repair the plaster, and prepare the walls for painting.

|
The walls were last papered with a "flax" colored paper installed in
the late 1960's. Under this paper several large sections of the previous paper have been uncovered. That paper was a solid brown color, with a top
and bottom border, as shown on this page's background.
|
Under the brown paper a small section of another paper was found.

Wall paper is being stripped off the sanctuary front wall. A
sheetrock patch can be seen in the southwest corner that was probably done
when the building was last papered in the late 1960's. This corner was
severely damaged from roof leaks when the building was vacant from the
1920's to the 1950's.

The back plaster wall is being stabilized.

The sanctuary back wall has been completely stripped, plaster stabilized,
and volunteers are patching the wall.

The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) began working on the
refurbishment in March of 2007 as part of the community service
requirements of their apprenticeship program.

The Starksboro Village Meeting House Board is grateful for all the help
and support the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers offered to complete this phase of the Sanctuary
Refurbishment. The group of apprentices and their instructors did a
fantastic job of seeing this labor intensive project to completion. Thanks!!
