Sugar on Snow Party

March 16, 2008

The annual sugar on snow party sponsored by the Starksboro Village Meeting House Society will be held on Saturday, March 29, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Starksboro First Baptist on VT Route 116 in Starksboro village. This event has been held for over 40 years! Come and enjoy traditional maple sugar on snow, homemade doughnuts, sour pickles, and beverages. See demonstrations of making maple candy and Indian sugar. Tickets for this yearly favorite, perfect for the whole family, are $5.00 for a single serving, $6.00 for a double serving for one, and $3.00 for children 12 and under.The event is being held in conjunction with the annual Conservation Commission Open Sugarhouse Day.

Get in on the raffle to win a Vermont Folk Rocker, generously donated by Jim Geier. Tickets are $10 each, with only 200 tickets to be sold. Also available at the party will be Starksboro t-shirts, sweatshirts, and afghans on sale, Bertha’s Book, the town history, and high quality low-cost cutlery. Proceeds benefit the Meeting House belfry restoration fund. The Meeting House Society, formed to save this historic Gothic Revival style church built in 1838-40, is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

At the event the Starksboro Cooperative Pre-School will sell raffle tickets and hold the drawing.
